“Sail Away” is something of a departure for The Rasmus. Don’t get me wrong; it’s still shit, just in a different way. Instead of the painfully cheesy soft pop-rock, they’ve gone for something more ballad-y that’s supposed to be deeply heart-rending. In reality, it’s about as emotionally moving as Chlamydia.

Full of pseudo-angst and forced melancholy, it’s the kind of song used for those “poignant” montages of teenage woe in the O.C. et al, i.e.: dull, clichéd (it even ends with a pointless key change) and desperately hollow.

Just like Chlamydia: avoid.
