The Music - Live at Hammersmith Palais

The Music – Hammersmith Palais, Thursday 7th October 2004

Chris George

The Music are something of an oddity; like what Led Zeppelin could have been if they’d grown up in a boring suburb of Leeds in an era of bad dance music and even worse drugs. On The Music’s newest album this sound is honed, their potential coming to fruition, demonstrating maturity, originality and talent most rock bands can only dream of.

They saunter onto the stage to the screams of an exhilarated crowd with a new found confidence. The set’s a well-balanced mix of songs from both albums, perfectly paced to give the audience not a just gig, but an experience. A bona fide musical journey that gets the crowd charged-up, jumping, moshing, pounding and dancing like they’d never get the chance again. The Music are more experienced and talented than they’ve ever been and they know it. When they leave the stage, they leave the crowd sweat-soaked and exhilarated.

The Music are a band that can’t be truly captured by CD so If you have even the slightest affection for them, see them live. Their gigs are always filled with an unbelievable energy and they sound better than ever; you won’t see a live show quite like it.
