The Fratellis - Henrietta

The Fratellis – Henrietta

Chris George

The trio Fratelli bound into their latest single, Henrietta, with a lively, hearty gusto – although one has to wonder whether their confidence is misguided. All in all it’s a fairly standard Brit-pop affair, ever so mildly reminiscent of The Beatles’ Lady Madonna, which plods along with a ska-type oompah-oompah rhythm that Suggs would have discarded, although its more chaotic chorus is nice. They blurt cheeky-chappy lyrics about tempting the eponymous Henrietta to run away with the band, and they say the c-word. They’re just crazy like that.

Despite its flaws, there’s a glimmer of charm in its energy and irreverence. Just not enough to make it particularly likable.

5/10
