The Crimea - Lottery Winners On Acid

The Crimea – Lottery Winners on Acid

Chris George

Lethargy can be a terrible thing can’t it? You know you’ve got that essay you need to start but sod it, you can’t be arsed to move. Something important might come on TV if you get up – best to stay sat down. The Crimea are a bit like that – musical lethargy.

It’s not unlike Pavement or The Thrills: sweet, jaunty tune with quirky guitars, xylophones, a plodding, stoned rhythm and mildly inane lyrics. It’s very likable, but it’s hard to feel particularly enamoured of it. Especially when Eels and Flaming Lips do this kind of laid-back eccentricity a lot better.

6/10
