Wolfmother - Dimension

Wolfmother – “Dimension”

Chris George

“Dimension” opens with a scream to rival that of any petulant three year-old, and, like a petulant three year-old, it demands attention.

It’s thrusting, stomping Black Sabbath-but-punkier goodness not unlike The D4 or The Datsuns. Fuzzy guitars, pounding drums, yelping vocals and psychedelic lyrics – it’s not altogether original, but it’s damn good.

Imagine the musical equivalent of your friend’s cool dad dusting off the old vinyls for a drunken/stoned nostalgic flashback to the ‘70s, when rock really MEANT rock. Can’t imagine it? Listen to “Dimension” and work backwards. Wonderful, isn’t it?

8/10
