The Cooper Temple Clause - Live at LSE
The Cooper Temple Clause – London School of Economics, Wednesday 6th October 2004
Chris George
The Cooper Temple Clause aren’t afraid to experiment or to stick a finger up at today’s rock clichés, but then when your influences range from The Pixies to Kraftwerk, from Sonic Youth to Aphex Twin, you’re going to have to have some balls.
The Cooper Temple Clause don’t piss about: they kick off their set with the pulsing AIM and follow straight into the rock explosion Been Training Dogs; a statement that this gig isn’t going to bother with pacing the audience, just get them as fired–up and rocked-out as possible.
They’ve always been a live band at heart, neither album truly capturing the energy they create so effortlessly on stage and tonight they don’t disappoint. Each song is belted out with their usual gusto, playing their more rocky energetic songs with the all force of a guitar smacked across the back of your head.
I doubt they’ll play in their home-town any time soon, but if you get the opportunity to see them live don’t pass it up; they’re a force to be reckoned with and deserve to be the future of British rock ‘n’ roll.
